Old Navy Dollar Flip-Flops

Clearly, I will be there based on what you read below regarding Texas feet that need to breaaaathe. But, these make a GREAT party favor for a summer party. Hey brides, everyone loves to put on flip-flops to dance at your wedding.....

Or you can use them as inspiration for this awesomely creepy Halloween costume FAIL.

And while you are at Old Navy stocking up, take note of their SMART store redesign. Ahh, nothing excites my inner design-loving, retail-obsessed nerd like a good store redo. Bright colors, centralized dressing rooms, and better checkout makes Pia excited.

I also picked up some totally fun summer finds, like a flip-flop printed tablecloth, fun crazy straws, and even some lucite banana split dishes. Super fun!

Casual Friday

Not gonna lie, I am kinda loving my outfit today (minus the numerous chins in that photo)! And just 6 minutes into the office, and my friend Andria said, "Great summer outfit!" So I am taking a moment to toot my own horn and show you the pieces. Don't worry, there's a non-self-involved post following this one.

I purchased this amazing and oh-so-relevant-to-this-blog tee at of course, Forever 21, as part of my Awesome Weekend In Austin.

Adding some bling when wearing a tee and Bermudas and as you will see later, unisex shoes, is key. I am a girl, let's remember and hope everyone else does. So, why not add to Casual Friday Office Outfit with a paper clip necklace! I got mine from Forever 21, again, of course, and could only find the safety pin version online, but they have the clips in store. Bert (Ernie, not my cat) would be so proud. Very collectible.

I'm pairing the above with these great Bermudas from American Eagle in grey. I wore the navy ones yesterday. They are really soft and a great price. And bonus, this weekend, get $1 flip-flops with any shorts purchase.

Finally, the shoes. I could dedicate a post alone to my new classic red Vans, but here you go. I've worn these for two days in a row now and I have decided they will be My Summer Shoe 2010, which is a little bit scary since a)they are not flip-flops and b)I don't wear them with socks. I sweat. A lot. All summer. From head to toe. So My Summer Shoe 2010 might easily because My Smelly Summer Shoe May 2010, but we'll see. I love red shoes and I knew I had to get these after my BFF Katie was sporting these last time I saw her. So, I picked up a pair at the outlets in Round Rock and will be channeling her indie spirit all summer long, or as we know, as long as I can feel okay about Texas feet in summer shoes. All that stench talk really took the sweetness out of copying my friend, but whatever. We are honest here at AAAD.

What are YOUR summer staples?

I love that people are bigger dorks than me and take time to mash up Muppets and Lady Gaga. Let's take a break to enjoy.

Lady Gaga/Sesame Street "Telephone" Mashup.

And not to be outdone, one of my favorite mashup artist, DJ BC, has a few great Sesame Street jams right here, on his Muppet Mashup. Word! These are awesome!

Awesomeness.

via Buzzfeed

After the ad agency Work Club installed a 22m blackboard in their London office, they invited a nightmarish real-life Bart Simpson to adorn it with his famous one-liners. It took 2 days for all 288 lines to be written out by a team of short-shorted Barts.

Awesome fun idea. And kudos for wearing those shorts!

Smitten Sticks: Awesomely Fun!

In case you have been living under a rock, mustaches are huge right now. Mustaches on a stick = even huger. That's why I was smilin' to see Smitten Sticks by LePapierStudio on etsy, which are smiles and all sorts of fun on a stick. I love the style, too. More cartoonish and colorful than your average mustache on a stick. Wow, that sentence was so 2010.

These kits come in different fun colors and have been a hit on Etsy. Check 'em out before they sell out!

One more post on the way to round out a wedding theme today. Getting excited for A + B's wedding in just a month!

Girl's Got Balls

In case you missed it, Centenary College graduate Emily Hawley asked her boyfriend to marry her during her commencement speech. Her boyfriend was shocked and so was the rest of the crowd. Great story. I love a good surprise. But, after reading AAAD Reader Angie's perspective, I can't help but agree. Read Angie's thoughts here and watch the proposal and their interview on the CBS Early Show below.

What An Awesome Weekend

Hello Lovelies,
I am back from Austin and had such a simply grand time. I can't wait to tell you all of the great finds I saw at the Renegade Craft Fair and all over town. AAAD Reader/BFF Katie and I ate, shopped, and ran around Austin, having an awesome time. We laughed that almost everything I purchased involved a cat, including this fun cat tote from Target. More details to come!
